Internet Safety Presentation

Sarah Migas, an Internet Safety Specialist from the Illinois Attorney General’s office, will be here for presentations. Students will be able to participate throughout the presentation and there will be a Question/Answer Time.
Also a presentation for our parents/guardians and community members. We hope to see many in attendance for this worthwhile presentation. The topics will remain the same, but the tone and material presented will be adjusted accordingly. Everyone who has attended a presentation from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office has left with a great deal of information.
2012 SIT (Students Involved with Technology) Conference
The 12th Annual SIT (Students Involved with Technology) Conference will take place in various locations in Illinois on February 18, 2012. We will be attending the DeKalb location. The theme of this years SIT Conference is “All Hands on Tech”. The SIT website has been updated, please visit it for more information – www.sitconference.org.
Information concerning the SIT 2012 Conference has been mailed out to those that participated last year. If you are in 6th-8th Grade and are interested in attending the SIT Conference, please sign the SIT Participation Sign-up sheet in your homeroom by January 17th; We will then contact parents/guardians to confirm that there are no family or school scheduling conflicts. We want to have our registration information submitted by the next day January 18th.
It is a long day—we depart from Waltham South at 6:15 a.m. and return around 3:00 p.m.— but one everyone enjoys because of their participation.
Recycling
Waltham is helping to save its environment and at the same time provide for some of our needs by recycling empty ink and toner cartridges, copier toner cartridges, and old cell phones. Please help by sending your empties or oldies from home or work to either of the district’s school buildings.
